Strategic Finance Advisory, LLC was founded in 2019 By Susan Wayland. With more than 30 years of experience in a wide range of industries, Susan has a depth of knowledge in accounting, finance, HR, systems and organizational development.
With a passion for the missions of independent schools and non profits, Strategic Finance Advisory is here to help your organization thrive and be sustainable in an ever changing landscape.
Behind the Scenes
Susan Wayland is the founder of Strategic Finance Advisory, LLC (“SFA”). SFA serves independent schools and nonprofits, providing interim CFO/COO services, strategic financial planning, and consulting to schools on best practices for business offices.
Susan has more than 30 years of experience leading the finance function in both for-profit and nonprofit organizations. She holds an MBA in Corporate Finance from Golden Gate University where she has also taught undergraduate and graduate level business finance courses.
Board memberships include Blackbaud Software K-12 Division Advisory Board, Independent School Data Exchange (INDEX) and serving as the Board Chair for a nonprofit equine therapy organization, Giant Steps Therapeutic Equestrian Center.
Susan is an avid equestrian, riding her horse, Wish Granted, whenever she can. She lives on the Central Coast of California with her partner, Mark, and their rescue dog, Lucy.
Senior Business Consultant
Since 1979, Mark has created and managed a number of successful businesses while also serving as a consultant to business owners and ultra high net worth family offices. His areas of expertise include strategic planning, client communications, private equity investing, and marketing. Mark assists Susan with strategy for SFA and provides guidance on client selection and management.
Lucybear has 4 years experience in snuggling, running with toys and general all around lovability. She helps Strategic Finance Advisory stay centered and have a sense of humor in all things.
